Puppy Days

On the last day of Autumn in the Year of the Boar, with bright purple Saffron blooms all around the camp, 松北 Matsukita gave birth to 3 healthy puppies, 1 male and 2 females with one being a runt. But by the end of winter, bad luck and sickness would have taken it toll, leaving only one. Amazing the little runty female had survived. She named her 極光 Kyokkō for the bright streaks that had danced upon the sky during those long winter nights and because even though those nights had been long, there had still been a light in the darkness. She had survived and not only that but had stayed as bright as the aurora during the night.

Months later 極光 Kyokkō had began puppy training and today was 'recognizing danger'. She had thought that she would see a rival pack or a group of coyotes but instead it was more like 'recognizing herbs' with 銅 Akagane the Herbalist. 銅 Akagane laid out different herbs for 極光 Kyokkō to smell with her eyes closed, huffing at her when she attempted to peek. "Your nose is your strongest sense when it comes to identifying herbs!" She growled at 極光 Kyokkō.
