Falling Feather

Falling Feather lived a good, long life, one in which she had a loving mate and many pups. Under her careful watch, we had many pups grow into fine adults who now hunt for and protect the pack.

Foliage Speckles pauses to push down his rising panic. So many of his respected senior packmates have passed. So few his age still remain. He knows that his passing will come soon, and it terrifies him.

Still, he continues.

I say these words before the body of Falling Feather, that her spirit may leave this realm, and join the ranks of our great ancestors.
Falling Feather, I release you from your life's task.
