It could be seen as friendly competition, or not. Sisters Celofay and Nolka spent many years as the top hunting leads, with only Celofay seen by the pack as living up to the expectations set by their mother Taim. Even now everywolf's intelligence is compared to Taim.

Cigau grew up obedient to her mother's wishes to train hard in order to prove her bloodline superior to Nolka's. She has no ill will toward her cousin Suuka. The thought of being compared to someone several years older embarrasses her. Outwardly she plays along with a gentle laugh when the topic comes up. Inwardly she really does like the idea of being the first Ghul wolf to catch a walrus, but only as a challenge to herself. Ordered by Alpha Nawth to manage a hunting team for wolves too inexperienced to join the top hunters, she knows this may never happen. Doubly so after the emergency pupsitting break.
