After long years of leading, it was time to decide who would follow him. Dyloc gazed at his pack. There were older, experienced wolves, but they would shortly be needing to make the same decision he was. He turned to the younger pups, those just learned. Arkose was an option, but then they would be down a pupsitter. Pieanie had the dedication and mind for it, but their eyes were always seeing something beyond this world, how would they lead when the hidden world called to them constantly? ... Mephus. They had finished training that morning. A scatterbrained youth from the cold taiga, but he had taken to these mountains as if he had been born here. He was skilled as well, second only to Dyloc himself. It would be a risk to choose someone so green in their life, but Dyloc had been nothing if not optomistic.
