Earthsky: The pair were nominated by the alpha, Hiddenstar, to lead his pack after his passing. The two wolves grew very close and ended up having a pair of puppies. Beetlepup and Shadepup were killed during a mountain lion attack. Their grief drove them apart.
Otterstream: Otterstream was one of the only wolves Fernstar felt comfortable enough to fully grieve around. She felt safe with him. The two grew close and they had five pups together, four of which were stillborn. Otterstream pulled away his affection. He refused to ever be involved in another litter of his own. Leafpup was left alone with his grieving mother.
Earthsky: Earthsky leaped back into the picture and nurtured Leafpup as if he was his own pup. Fernstar felt her love for him grow again, and she reminded herself of all they'd been through. The two reconnected and solidified their bond as mates.
