Angelcloud was a trusting little girl whose kindness was unrivaled in the pack. If another pup was hungry or sad, Angel was quick to give her food or toy to make them happy. And nothing made Angel happier than seeing everyone around her happy. Her elders said that she lived up to her name because "Angel is pure joy". Nothing bad ever seemed to touch Angel herself. Never complaining of hunger or boredom, she only seemed to think of others. Her mother was delighted with her wonderful attitude and praised her for her selflessness. But Horseheart worried what would happen if Angel were to meet with some great sadness of her own.
At the Academy, Angel was assigned to study speed and agility to prepare her for chaser work. But she seemed more concerned with helping her brothers and cousins do well than earning good marks herself. Horseheart and Sunflare both told her that while helping other pups was admirable, she must also look after her own self. Angel gave them both a bright glowing smile and told them that helping others was how she looked after herself. Finally, Peachflower stepped in and explained to Angel that taking care of others and taking care of herself were not the same thing at all, but maybe she would have to learn this lesson the hard way.
During her apprenticeship, Angel continued to put everyone else first, even while she trained as a chaser. Sometimes that selflessness put her in danger, when she tried to shield others from danger or even just harder work. Angel earned herself a few scoldings for trying to take on the work of other apprentices. Her elders were worried that she would never come around, but then her uncle Falcontail took her aside and explained to her that each member of a hunting team has their own part to play and must pull their weight equally for the hunt to be successful. Only by working this way can the pack be fed every day and continue to thrive. Angel finally understood that the greater good of the pack required her to focus on her own job and let others focus on theirs.
On her first birthday, Angel played the barmaid and delivered drinks to all her packmates before she took any herself. In return, her brothers made sure she got a double portion. Because of that, she got the drunkest out of everyone, which was much less funny the next morning.
Now as an adult, Angel still loves to help others and will make time for anyone in need. That includes packmates, other wolves, and even other creatures who find themselves in trouble. She has been known to rescue bobcat kittens from trees, build little shelters where rodents can hide from predators, and watch over birds' nests to guard the eggs. But she also knows that sometimes not helping is best. Helping someone else isn't really helpful if your own work goes undone, and someone who gets help all the time will never grow stronger. Instead of blindly rushing to help, Angel has learned to encourage others to help themselves. Keeping that balance of knowing when to help and when not to is a constant effort for Angel, but she knows how important it is and won't give up.
