Founder of Lassen Pack. Quailchaser dispersed from her small pack after chafing under their authority. Her aloof personality was not a match for the close-knit, loyal wolves of the pack. For months she traveled and hunted alone in contentment before meeting another dispersal male, Coyotescar, whose charming personality won her over and choosing to create a pack with him.
Unfortunately her first 3 litters did not survive any pups. Quailfeather was her first surviving pup, bred to an outside stud.
Quailheart, Quailscar, and Coyotechaser were the first surviving litter she had with Coyotescar in their 5th year. Her aloof personality led her to have a more paws-off style of leadership, letting wolves sort out squabbles amongst themselves and never being particularly close to any wolf but her mate and pups—the pack herbalist, Brambledusk, being the one exception to that.
Strange events began happening not long after she weaned her first pups… Quailchaser began to have vivid dreams, visiting a world that was so strange it couldn't be real… but she'd wake with injuries and strange, glowing trophies from her battles with the creatures of that world. It seemed she was the only wolf in her pack who visited this world at first, but over the years her pack began to encounter wolves with odd markings who had a close connection to that world. Her son, Quailheart, was one of those wolves, and after an illness, lost himself to the dreamlands, spending more time awake than asleep, and seeming to grow a blue sheen on his coat…
