Biography
In the Beginning
In the Beginning of the Pack's forming, it was led by a beautifully wise lunar white female. She'd been born under the light of a full moon which was considered rare among many of the packs. More so when her pale, ice blue eyes gazed back with wisdom beyond her very years. Kiyiya led the Dragon Hill Pack through many years, through many storms, and through worst disasters. We saw wildfires ravage our original range, saw those same flames level our hunting grounds and destroy our prey. We watched helpless as her pups, unable to keep up, succumbed to the very flames that claimed the lives of so many. We mourned alongside her. Mourned the loss with her. And watched as her decision to never have another, put the very pack's existence at risk. Without new hunters, scouts, or herbalists, we knew we were doomed. But unknown to many of us, she'd already had a plan. A pup born under the Lunar Dust that often blanketed our lands. This strange occurrence was deemed by our previous scouts to be non-threatening to the pack's welfare. And it was during such an event that she emerged from the Dreamlands with a pup following at her side, his eyes blazing with the power of those very lands. She told us he would one day lead us. And we accepted this. We accepted it because we could feel the very power that came from him. There was greatness in his future. Upon Kiyiya and her mate Ashe, leaving this plain for the next, Ankh took control of the pack and his first move was to move us to the mountain ranges.
He claimed that the hunting would be better there, that he'd seen prey there. It would be harder living with fewer places for our dens, or so we thought. Upon arriving, we saw that dens had already been established. How he'd known, how'd he even knew about this place, was beyond our understanding. I spent many hours conversing with our former leader and she simply smiled and stated that this is where she'd found Ankh. I found it hard to believe that she simply found a wayward pup in the Dreamlands, but I trusted her judgement, trusted her words. And then, then they came. Kinfolk. Merged. Independents. Beings we had no idea who or what they were. We only know that rather quickly, Ankh aligned our pack with the Merged. After meeting a few of these strange beasts, I found the decision to be beneficial and told him as such. He seemed...happy. Happy that finally, someone in the pack trusted his judgement. Happy that somehow, he'd make this work. But then, then the cataclysms began and we were once again struck with fear. We lost many pups the first week. Picked off by predators who simply came into our dens and carted them off. Ankh mourned. He mourned their losses deeply. But then. Then we heard whispers on the wind of a mighty female fighting to rejoin her mate and eagerly, we waited because we knew, we just knew she was meant for our leader. And then, before a mighty volcano, Mazikeen came. She unfolded herself from a bubbling lava flow as a fawn unfolds it's legs and stands just after birth. She seemed confused, but as soon as she saw us, as soon as she saw Ankh, she howled her arrival and our foes, well, they ran in terror.
The New Leaders
Our new leaders have taken some time to adjust too. Mazikeen however, as heated as she can get, has proven herself a worthy friend. She listens to us. She hears our pleas for help in the hunts. She even joined a hunting pack, our most successful one thus far. She mourns with us when those whom we love, leave for the next chapter in their lives. We've lost so many good ones. Carrot. Lucian. Kiyiya. Ashe. Arwen. So many gone. Too many. She honors each one. Each Samhain, she helps us honor those whom we've lost. I can't say how or even why she understands or cares, but she does and it's proven to be a balance. She is the Yin to Ankh's Yang. She balances everyone within our pack. And their recent litter is just so cute! The most beautiful blending of their coats. It's made our pupsitters happy to be just that; pupsitters. They eagerly look forward to each new birth, eagerly look forward to the new pups that'll join their care. And from time to time, I'll catch Ankh rolling his eyes, but I can see the smirk on his face. He's told us we'll one day move. We are scared. We'd be foolish not to be, but we trust him and Mazikeen. He's known thus far what to do and how to guide us. And so we trust him. We trust her to make sure any trouble he gets us into, she'll be able to get us out of it.
The Gift
The Gift. It came out of nowhere. It first appeared on Kiyiya. Glowing teal colorations whom our former herbalist Carrot, just couldn't understand. It wasn't an illness or a disease. It was as if Kiyiya had been blessed by whatever deity she'd met in the Dreamlands. And when Ankh came to us, he was covered with it. He had Essence flames licking from his paws, ears, tail, and legs. And when he entered the Dreamlands, he returned with a Lunar crow and Raven, both of whom were such a deep black in color, their feathers glittered a pale blue tint depending on the light. But their eyes! Their eyes glowed with the very powers that came from the Dreamlands. This...this strange occurrence continued, till nearly everyone in our pack had been blessed. And then...then I came with Ankh. I have no memory of how or where he found me, but here I am. And I have markings that glow. I have paws with the very Essence flames that lick at his paws. But I come with the very jewelry of a Lore Keeper. Both Ankh, Mazikeen and the pack have taken great care to make sure I'm well protected. It appears Lore Keepers are so well respected, we become targets for other packs! How shocking is that?! But I feel blessed. I feel safe here and under a near permeant reminder of the Dreamlands Auroras, I can feel the greatness that is soon to come to this pack and it's wise leaders.
