Rupert

Never the easiest wolf in the pack to get along with, Rupert definitely earned his nick name of "The Lovable Grumpus" that was given to him by Marcus, the alpha male. However to those that knew him well enough, they can account first paw that Rupert was in fact one of the most loyal members of the Tamarack pack. 

Starting out as an older NBW Rupert was definitely a little rough around the edges. His time wandering alone made him untrusting and aloof. However once invited into the pack he slowly began to trust others again starting with Marcus and his mate Horo. 

Meeting the pair back when they were newly established with there first litter, Rupert quickly noticed that the pack's hunting party was still very inexperienced and barely bringing home enough prey to feed everyone. Being a new member, Rupert expected to be kicked out to ensure the pups got enough to eat. However Marcus and Horo instead approached him with an offer to join the hunting party sensing he had good experience and potential surviving as long on his own as he one did. Grateful for not being kicked out he accepted the job.

It wasn't easy for him however, because there was so many inexperienced young wolves in the hunting party with many different personalities that didn't seem to work well together. It seemed at least every other day there would be a fight breaking out between two or more hunters. Irritated by all the bickering he took it upon himself to straighten things out. He moved members around different roles to see where they would best fit. And with the alpha's permission chased out others out to make room for member better suited for the job.

It took al lot of time, patience, practice, and the occasional bloody fight with an unyielding member to finally get the hunting party to where it needed to be to reach high proficiency. 

Not the most friendly or approachable wolf in the pack Rupert was forever grateful to everything he had fiercely loyal to those he cared about most. He will be dearly missed. Rupert is survived by his loving mate Orsa and their three pups Bernard, Bjorn, Ursula and his adopted daughter Anya.
