Relationships
Mother: Sand
Father: Clay
Siblings: Orange, Cloud, Winterberry
Mate: Rust
Children: Platypus, Emu, Dingo, Snake
Best friend: Taiga
While Patch is outgoing and confident, Taiga is calm and gentle. Non the less, the two wolves make for perfect friends. They do say opposites attract after all.
Mentor: Ash
Patch could tell how nervous Ash was when he first started training her. However, the wolf slowly gained more confidence and made for an amazing mentor. Patch couldn't have asked for a more patient and understanding wolf to mentor her.
Apprentice: Badger
Badger was a challenge to mentor. The wolf was brash, eager to fight and rarely listened to Patch. Patch realized early on she would need to put her paw down if she was going to successfully train the pup. Thankfully, it seemed over time she gained Badgers respect, and Patch is proud of the skilled Scout she helped Badger to become.
History
Things got difficult when Patch reached adolescence. She wanted to be a scout, but the position sadly wasn't available. Patch didn't let this deter her however, she was young and both Speck and Ash were getting older, they wouldn't be around forever. After many stubborn conversations with Jet, they reached a compromise. Patch could train as a scout but couldn't officially become one until speck retired or passed. In his spare time, Patch was to help the hunters.
Patch didn't mind helping the hunters, but she still found herself yearning for the life of a scout. When she wasn't out observing hunts, Patch was diligently listening to her mentor Ash. Ash was so patient with her and was more than happy to teach her everything he knew. Patch befriended an Irish settler during one scouting session with Ash, and quickly befriended the dog. He would often accompany her on her walks.
By the time Patch reached adulthood, she had become a rather talented hunter, a jack of all trades type. However, she wasn't satisfied. Waiting as patiently as she could for the roll of Scout to open. Speck passing gave Patch many mixed emotions. She missed the wolf; he had always been so kind to her. But his passing meant she could finally officially become a scout. She took to the job right away and it was clear she was made for the role. Having waited so long, Patch was so excited to finally be an official Scout.
Patch had been looking for love for a long time, just not in the right places it seems. Rust was kind and reliable and an amazing friend. Patch however, had never considered that they could be something more until well… they became something more. She isn't sure when it happened, but when Rust timidly asked her to be their mate, she found herself excited by the idea, eagerly saying yes.
Once they were ready, Patch and Rust decided to have a litter of pups. When they found themselves having a litter for four, two boys and two girls, the couple were glad they waited until they felt ready. Patch's heart beamed with pride at the sight of her pups, and she could barely wait to watch them grow up.
It was hard losing her mother, knowing she wouldn't be around to watch and care for Patch and her siblings. Patch was just glad she had lived long enough to meet her grandpups, to see them become apprentices.
Patch's pups are all grown up now, all four becoming hunters. Platypus, Emu, and Snake becoming chasers, and Dingo becoming a finisher. Patch couldn't be prouder of the charming young wolves they had grown into.
Losing a father, her remaining parent, crushed Patch. She did her best to soldier on, but it took her a long time to feel okay again.
Things got better for a while, until her mate Rust passed away. Patch knew Rust was getting on in years, that they wouldn't be around much longer. It didn't mean their death hurt her any less. Patch has been spending a lot of time with her pups, grieving is easier when you aren't alone.
On the 7th year and 6th month of her life, Patch made her way to the mountains summit. Caribou, Winterberry, Orange, and Cloud keeping her company through most of the journey. Once at the top, looking out at the endless sky, Patch, Winterberry, Orange, and Cloud were greeted by their parents, Clay and Sand, who gently guided them to the afterlife.
