But there's nothing to be done about it now. Lunvoni gives herself a thorough shake, as if to flick off her worries like the water droplets on her coat. With her wits gathered, she trots off into the dense, fog-shrouded forest.
She's on her own for several hours before seeing any signs of other wolves. Curious about the local packs, she's in the midst of checking some dung before a howl rings out on her left, very close by. She startles and stumbles a couple steps like a spooked horse. This cursed drizzle must be dulling her sense of smell. How could she have wandered so near to a stranger and not noticed?
She pauses, staring into the direction she heard the howl from, ears straining for any indication of approach, silently debating on whether to seek them out. She's been looking for a new pack to stay with, but... she'd obviously trespassed. Would they be aggressive? She's not looking for a fight.
She hears a twig snap.
Whirling to face the possible attacker, she meets a gray face peering out from the fog several body lengths away. The rest of the wolf's body is partially hidden behind a tree. At Lunvoni's movement they flinch back a bit, but stand their ground.
Lunvoni sighs, calming a bit. She's not out of the woods yet, so to speak, but this is a lot better than being attacked on sight. And, she notes, leaning to the side to get a better look at this new wolf, the stranger looks much smaller and thinner than her. She could probably take them easily. She's quickly pulled from her thoughts by the other, however.
"Er, hello. Do you have business here?" The gray wolf says, leaning to the side as well to keep eye contact with Lunvoni. They glance down at her pendant.
"Well no, not necessarily. I came here accidentally, I'm something of a wanderer. I just returned from the Dreamlands and this weather is making it difficult to get my bearings. I'm sorry if I've been trespassing, I'll leave immediately if you'd be so kind as to point me in the right direction."
The other wolf smirks. "Oh yeah, this weather is terrible for navigation. And-" They lean forward, sniffing the air, "you don't seem to be from any of the surrounding packs, so I suppose I'll take your word for it. You say you're a wanderer?"
Lunvoni nods. "Yes. Not by choice though, I'm lost. It's difficult to explain... but I could use some help finding my way back home. You wouldn't know any neighbors that would be willing to let me stay for a short while, would you?"
The wolf perks up. "Sure! I know plenty! Heck, we've got space here at Faldraan, would you want to stay here for a bit? I'm sure Drevois--our leader--won't mind. I'm sorry to hear about your situation, but we have scouts, and Drevois himself, who are very knowledgeable about the land beyond our territory and could help you find your pack."
Lunvoni grins, relieved. "That'd be wonderful, thank you! I'm Lunvoni by the way."
They incline their head in greeting. "Solvos. We should head back to the base, I'll tell you about home rules as we go." They turn and start walking off.
"But say, before I forget, where'd you get that pendant from? It's beautiful."
Lunvoni puffs up, partly flustered and partly prideful. "It's a gift, it used to be my ancestor's. It's lost all it's essence though."
Solvos' eyes widen in awe. "Wow, it must be incredibly old, then. Shame it's lost its magic. I wish my ancestors saved items to give to future pups, we just get names and titles around here." They cock their head thoughtfully. "No offense, but I thought you were going to say it was from the Dreamlands for a hot minute. Maybe it was the just the blue color."
She chuckles. "No, it's not a Dreamlands item. It probably is just the color. Although if you're so interested you can certainly buy similar things from there if you save up, the Lunar Tears currency isn't difficult to find-"
Solvos scoffs. "Ah, forget it. Drevois doesn't let us buy stuff from the Dreamlands. An old rule from his predecessor grandmother that he decided to keep. Ridiculous, if you ask me. Thanks anyway."
Solvos is swifter than they look, but Lunvoni is still able to keep pace easily. "O-oh, alright. Sorry about that. What an odd policy, though. What was the reasoning for it?"
"Don't even get me started on that. Y'see when the Dreamlands were first discovered, our first leader Drivas..."
Lunvoni soon regretted asking. This Solvos wolf talks far too much.

Moons later, she had pups. Five of them, to be exact. All five of them were beautiful - gorgeous - and she was very proud of them.
Stretching, Lunvoni yawns and looks down at her pups lovingly. The pack she is in now is a place she has decided to call safe. The lead wolf - Thorfinn - is very kind and loyal to his pack, and he was kind enough to allow her and her pups to join his pack.
