Màiri has been born in a smallish pack. Her parents were the leaders, so her puphood was rather sheltered. It was a really happy upbringing for her. She could play with her siblings and friends all day without a single care in the world. However this time didn't last forever. Just as she had finished her apprenticeship a large pack moved next to her pack.

The relationship between the two packs was tense from the beginning. The new pack would hunt on Màiris' pack's territory and even take their kills by force. Eventually the leader of the other pack made a proposal to her parents: They could either make an alliance or he would take their territory by force. If they made an alliance, the pack could stay together on their territory, but her parents would be replaced by a wolf of his choice. Her parents reluctantly decided to agree to an alliance. To fasten the alliance the leader of the other pack demanded that one of her parents' daughters would be betrothed to his son, who was his successor. The choice fell on Màiri.

She was to leave her pack almost immediately. She was not very happy about it, but she felt like she had no over options, so she agreed. The leader was cruel and his son, her mate, was not better. She wasn't comfortable with all this cruelty around, but didn't dare to speak up in fear of what would happen to her. Shortly after she joined the pack, the leader fell ill and passed away, leaving her mate in charge. It was not long after that that the wolves staged a long planned uprising. She was not killed unlike her mate, but severely injured and blinded. She was imprisoned until her wounds were healed enough that she would not die without a herbalist. Then she was banished.

Màiri tried to find her family, but got horribly lost. She tried to join another pack, but got turned down everywhere until she met Graham Eclipsedmoon and Muirín Seabright, while they were out foraging. She was grateful that their pack let her join as she didn't think she would have survived much longer. She decided to become a herbalist, since she didn't think she would be of much use on a hunt anymore. When Graham told her she was pregnant, she was surprised. Only two of her four puppies survived.

It was a hard time for her after she joined the pack. Graham cared affectionately for her the whole and they fell in love with each other. She also became good friends with Muirín who even gifted her a necklace like hers.
