As you came back to the clearing from a hunt you noticed Smoc weaving in and out of the pupsitter's den. You approached her and noticed they were delivering food to the adolescent's and nursing mothers, on top of it all she was also replacing the moss in the nests. When you stopped her to ask why she was doing it she paused in her fast-paced movements and just stared at you. She raised a brow as her head tilted to the side, "It's what any good pack mate would do." She said, as if the answer were obvious.
A thoughtful expression crosses your face as you consider her answer. "But don't you ever get tired of it? Always moving back and forth while playing provider?" You tilt my head as you continue, "does it make you happy knowing you're keeping the pack's future fed, or do you just see it as another task you're supposed to do?" Your eyes narrowed slightly at Smoc as you finished laying down your round of questions.
Smoc couldn't hold back a small grin at the onslaught of questions from you, when you finished she gave you an amused look and gave you a moment to catch your breath. She placed down the moss she was carrying between her paws before she turned to face you fully, "To answer your questions - no, I don't get tired of it, and what does it matter if it makes me happy or if it's another task. Can't it be both? Everywolf overcomplicates everything." She said as she gave a small shrug, "Yes I see it as tasks, but I also see it as fulfillment and a sense of purpose. It also helps me remember that I'm doing good serving my pack." She explained with a thoughtful expression.
I listen to her words intently with consideration. Only when Smoc finished did I find myself slowly nodding, pleased with her answers. "A nice balance between duty and self-purpose. You aren't doing all of this to chase after imaginary karma points or reputation. I can respect that." I give Smoc a smile, allowing my tail to sway slowly. "And my apologies for this... "interrogation". You can never be too sure of another wolf's intentions nowadays!" I chuckle lightly to ease any tension there might have been in the conversation.
Smoc smirked and gave a small nod of her head, "It's alright, I understand." She said, "Here, pick up some moss and help me replace the nests in the nursery." She added as she picked the moss back up and turned, disappearing into the nursery.
