Velka

Velka is the quiet, strict leader of the Pine Mountain pack. While not  especially strong or smart, she is an expert at navigating the sheer cliffs and trails of the territories the pack calls home. A pathfinder for her previous pack, she uses her skills to find otherwise inaccessible slices of territory for her pack to claim. She is quick to stamp out any who would attempt to rise against her, and doesn't disdain intimidation and violence as methods to quell rebellion. 

Thus far, she is mother to six puppies. Her first litter had two pups, a female and a male.  Tarro, the male, left the pack upon reaching adulthood, per tradition. Luci, the female, is the current heir apparent to the Empress role. However, Velka's apathy towards her oldest daughter has been noted by all. 

Her second litter contained four puppies. Three females, Tani, Nalis, and Taby;  and a male, Rime. Tani died at two and a half months old after wandering and consuming a poisonous plant. It is unknown to the others how deeply Velka has grieved Tani, but the Empress chose not to punish the pupsitters for this incident. It's whispered that this is due to the pup not being considered as a potential heir.
