Monochrome is a bit of an interesting case. What do you think happens when a demon in a mortal meatsuit has a kid with a regular mortal? You get a half-demon, that's what. A half-demon just like Monochrome. Unlike regular demons, half-demons can cross wards and protections that their full-blooded kin cannot, which is how he's able to live in the Garden of the Gods with the rest of his pack. There's a lot of superstition and prejudice against them due to their bloodline and the - albeit watered down - demonic abilities that come with it. Aleph himself wasn't immune, but when the (at the time) young adolescent stumbled onto the grove more than half-dead and so desperate as to leave the normally distrustful wolf begging for aid, how could he turn him away? Even being what he was, Aleph just. Couldn't do it.
Resolving to keep an eye on him, the God of Groves allowed Monochrome to live in the Garden of the Gods on a probationary basis. But watching Monochrome using his demonic heritage in benefit of the pack, guarding the young from any unseen danger, and Aleph realized he'd wronged the young half-demon. Wronged him terribly. He was no different than any other mortal, save for a somewhat different toolkit. It was what he chose to do with that toolkit that mattered - and Aleph resolved to never forget the lesson young Monochrome had taught him. As long as he wanted to stay, Monochrome and any pups he might have would forever be welcome in his grove.
Monochrome nudges something over to Aleph with a sigh that tells the god he's not happy about it and would rather keep it for himself. Aleph's quite surprised to discover that the gift is actually useful.
