Didn't have the want for pack lore before, but now i am steaming with ideas!
It was a slow, painfully boring process. She had been training as a scout in anticipation of her new role. Most of it was talk, it usually went in through one ear out the other.
While Orca, now immortal, spoke to the gathered pack. Eppsarie glanced around, her mother and older sister were near the front, looking proud. She felt a new confidence building in her chest, but it quickly died as soon as she spotted someone.
It was the wolf from that night, the silhouette of Orca, small and lithe. With burning red eyes, and a dark grin. Their eyes narrowed as they met hers and she shuddered as they back off into the growth. She turned just in time for Orca to turn her attention back to Eppsarie.
"Eppsarie, the role of leader is a harsh one, but i know that my choice to make you my heir was the right one. I hope you use your new found power well, for the well being of current and future pack members. I do hope you make me proud" it was a lovely speech, up till the end, Orca's voice had this sinister undertone to it.
"I will, for the pack and the sake of it's future," she responded. Orca flicked her tail in a pleased way before she pressed her nose to Eppsarie's forehead. From this day forward she was the leader of The Abyssal Zone and the protector of its wolves and secrets.
Vile creatures, they were, mimics, monsters, curses. She wished that the one that looked like Orca, Pollution, would just leave her alone already. But no matter what, they were always there. Watching her every move with blazing eyes. At times Orca would acknowledge them with a nod, other than that, not one word was spoken between them.
It just made her despise Orca for her uncaring disposition towards Pollution. The other wolves were following the rules, they knew that they were there but they never acknowledged Pollution's presence by looking or talking to them.
Eppsarie would just glare at the other Orca, to which Pollution would flash her an amused grin. Eppsarie would usually scoff and return to whatever she had been working on at that moment. Nevermind how difficult it was to work with eyes boring into her back like a ember of fire escaping the whole and grazing her.
She couldn't focus. Stress was beginning to pile up. More and more of those shadowy mimics were reaching their world much to her displeasure. She tried talking to Tartarus but she seemed different than how she and Orca had left her. She had lost her excited bounce. She spoke in a much more monotonous tone and kept a serious face.
Eppsarie chalked it up to Tartarus getting used to her new job. Unfortunately, she didn't know anything of the new mimics. Nothing had entered or exited the cave on her watch. It was strange, but Eppsarie had no reason not to believe the other wolf.
When she returned, Pollution was nowhere to be found. She and the pack were startled by a group of hunters running into the clearing four of them were covered in blood while the fifth was slumped over one of the other backs. There was so much blood soaking the wolfs argent fur. She ran to the wolf holding his bleeding companion.
"Snowfall what in the Abyss' name happened!" She cried. The argent wolf was out of breath, and he looked exhausted, before he could get out a word he fell to the ground unconscious. The pack gasped in horror as both Snowfall and his huntmate were lying unconscious, covered in life threatening wounds.
She turned to Snowfall's brother, Cloudscape "good god, what happened to all of you, WAKEY WAKEY help, we have two pack members in critical condition!" She wailed.
Cloudscape groaned beginning to lick his wounds. "We were attacked, by a group of those mimics, those things are strong i will give them that." He admitted, also out of breath but well enough to be alright. WAKEY WAKEY ran out with a bundle of herbs. "Someone help me move them to the pool, we need to wash the blood off so i can assess the wounds." Eppsarie backed off, feeling nothing in that moment, it was hard to feel anything. She closed her eyes, wishing that this was all a nightmare, that this would all be a dream, that Snowfall and the others would survive this.
"I'm not sure why they are attacking you Eppsarie, I apologize. They usually aren't this bold, i will try to talk to them. I promise I never wished for anyone to get hurt", she turned at Pollution's words. Muttered a quiet thanks i guess then strode of to her den. Head and tail hung in defeat. What was she gonna do? She couldn't take on the entire Abyssal Realm, how was she going to protect her wolves?
Eppsarie is just like her mother, not too pleasant to be around. However, she is useful, even if she rarely takes orders. I usually have to make her believe its her own choice but no matter. Pollution believes that her bad attitude and demeanor makes her strong willed, but once you crack the code then her control is but a small bit of freedom she's granted. One pawn to the whole chess game, and i am the queen.
She's an ass, to put it bluntly, usually I wouldn't put myself in a situation around her, but I really don't have a choice. Orca says we're alike which sends chills down my spine. Alike? No, i would never be like Orca, she feigns care. I may not have the best personality, but I wouldn't use others for personal gain. Like Orca does.
