Biography
He once visited the dreamland looking for herbs and came in contact with some strange spores. From that day on, dreamland branches grew from his fur. He uses them to enhance his medicines and has become a very renowned herbalist.
Hawk's mate Wren is the love of his life. The two met when the pack was just starting up and have never separated since; they picked up adopting soon after they got together. Since Wren was a pup-sitter, it was easy for them to take on new pups. Hawk loved when she sat by him while he worked, always covered in curious little ones.
Being the pack's herbalist was a difficult job, but it was his passion. No matter how hard he had to work, he loved getting to take care of his pack-mates. Wren was a huge help too. Not generally physically because she was always busy taking care of the pack's young, but she never let that stop her from supporting Hawk with all she had. He truly did love her.
As the two grew old, Hawk realized that he didn't have much time left in this world. However, he came to accept this fate and chose to do his best in saving as many wolves as he could before his time was up. The essence of this spirit is what made him a great herbalist.
There was one thing though that was going to be more difficult for hawk, choosing an apprentice. Some wolf needed to take over after he passed, and they had to be perfect for the position. Nevertheless, he found her.
One sunny day, Hawk was walking down to the Enclave. Him and Wren were always looking for more pups to adopt and he was good friends with Lillemor. However, as he reached the entrance, he noticed a commotion going on inside. As he hurried to see what was the matter, he saw Lillemor and a group of pups in a cluster around a pup. He quickly hurried over. If the middle of the circle was a pup, who appeared to be bleeding out of his right leg. Another pup was fussing over him, but it was hard to hear what she was saying because her mouth was stuffed with herbs. Lillemor, who appeared to have just noticed the commotion, was trying to wade through the young to figure out what was going on. Hawk ran up to the pups and nudged them out of the way so he and Lillemor could get through. The bear shot him a look of gratitude before continuing to shew the other pups away. One by one, the little one dispersed and distracted themselves with other things. That is, except one. The pup from before who seemed to be gathering herbs and lecturing the wounded pup refused to leave his side. Hawk tried to tell her it was okay and as a professional herbalist he could help the pup on his own, but she wouldn't listen. "I already have all of the right herbs!" she protested, "Let me help him! Or would you rather let him bleed out on the ground while you find your own?" She has a fiery gleam in her eye that told Hawk she wasn't going to back down. He sighed and scooted her over so he could look at the wound. It was pretty deep, causing the injured pup to whimper quietly, but the spunky pup seemed to have cleaned it correctly already. He was impressed. He looked over at the herbs she'd gathered. They seemed to be all of the correct herbs to make a open wound salve. However, she seemed to have mixed up yarrow and bonset. It wasn't that difficult since the two both had white flowers. None the less, he was surprised by her aptitude for medicine making. He took the herbs from her and explained the mistake. "You see the white flowers on this plant here? This is bonset, not yarrow. You can see by how the flowers are clumped together," he explained, pointing to the flowers on the plant. "If you can find me some yarrow, I'll let you work with me if you'd like," he smiled at her. She huffed, but she seemed to be secretly enjoying learning something new. Her eyes lit up when he asked her to work with him, a renowned herbalist. "...okay," she ran off, coming back a few minutes later with the right herb. "Very good!" he praised her. She gave him a crooked smile, "It better be good! I had to walk through a patch of briars to get to it," she said triumphantly. Lillemor watched from the sidelines, sighing in relief that the problem was being sorted out. Hawk chewed up the herbs into a stick paste before applying it to the wound and stopping the bleeding. Once it dried her instructed Lillemor to carry the pup to bed and let him rest, which she did gratefully. "Told you I could do it," remarked the spirited pup before wandering off. Hawk watched her go. She was incredibly interesting to him. Despite having a sarcastic and not easily approachable personality, she seemed to love to learn and have a knack for medicine. As well as this, she did seem to actually care about the pup she was tending to. It was a sort of tough love, but it was still care. Later he found Lillemor and asked about adopting her. The bear's jaw dropped on surprise before she smiled brightly. "Why that's wonderful! Of course! No one has wanted to adopt dear Sadhbh because she's so aggressive! I'm so glad the two of you clicked." So Sadhbh was her name.... Sounded Celtic; he liked it. She found her laying in a patch of shade and asked her if she was okay with him adopting her. She stared at him, surprised. "Well, yeah duh, I'd want to be adopted be one of the best herbalists out there! Hell, I'll walk out of here with you right now!" she laughed. And do they did. He giggled. He seemed so mature for her age, and her spirit was unmatched. She was a perfect successor if he'd ever seen one. Though, they would need to work on her sass, and there was always more to learn.
The two studied medicine together all the way up to Hawk's final days. Out of all of his children, she was the one he was closest to. She saw him as a true dad, and they spent many late nights together talking and foraging and making new medicines. Once she was old enough, he explained to her that he planned on her being his successor and carrying on the family art after he pasted. She had grown into a fine young wolf, wise and spunky. She never did grow out of her temper. Though he knew it pained her to think of his passing, he knew it was time she understood that he wouldn't always be there to help her. Suddenly, she did something out of character. She leaped forward and nuzzled his neck, holding him close. "While I can't imagine a world without you, I hope we will get to spend every last day together," she muttered, "Love you Dad." Hawk's heart melted with pride. She was perfect.
