Skadi is the jotun goddess of the icy harshness of winters, often associated with bow hunting.
She once had an ill-fated marriage with Njord, the Vanir God associated with the sea, seafaring, wind, fishing, wealth, and crop fertility. They often had disputes and in the
Heimskringla, it was written that Skadi split up with Njord and eventually married Odin and that the two produced many children together.
Some texts say that Skadi is also responsible for placing the serpent that drips venom onto the bound
Loki.
Alternatively, some sources refer to Skadi as a masculine figure, and some scholars theorize that Skadi could have originally been a male deity.
