Contrarian is the highly mischievous, playful and jovial son of Willow and Ginkgo. As a pup and adolescent, he doesn't take things too seriously. He adores playing games with his loved ones; almost as much as he loves playing tricks on them as well.
In his adulthood, he's still just as jovial, but has mellowed out slightly into a surprisingly wise and open-minded individual. His open-mind and wisdom works well with soothing his mate, Adversary, of her enraged rantings and impulsive decisions.
Before they became mates, Contrarian wasn't too fond of Adversary. It wasn't a dislike per say, but she was just far too intense, even for him. Further into adulthood, though, their playfulness began to match in level. This resulted in harmless sparring matches that Contrarian never won, but he always knew she was going easier on him. Adversary's sister, Impala, told him so, but it was obvious, even for him. He thought it was sweet, though, and they later became mates, where playfighting and spars are a daily part of their lives. (Which, she still never let's him win)

After his mother's death, Contrarian stepped up as leader. Most wolves thought he'd deny the role, as he never seemed keen on taking it. But, his mother died very suddenly-from an enraged polar bear attack. Willow had no time to choose an heir outside of her sons, so, for now anyway, Contrarian has taken on a heavy but rewarding responsibility of leading The Wolves of The Willows. He may forfiet to someone else in the future, but for now, he feels up to the challenge.
However, the sorrow of Willow and Ginkgo's recent passings have hit the entire pack hard, Contrarian and his family especially. So, Adversary has stepped up to help. Her more violent nature goes against the pack's preference for peace, but she is responsible. Maybe his humor and fairness mixed with her protective and selfless nature will make for a good team.

Years after Willow's death, Contrarian has found himself surprisingly confident in his role. His packmates respect his judgment, even if he isn't the most serious wolf. His relationship with Adversary has blossomed into love, becoming mates and having multiple litters so far. Their eldest daughter, Spectre, has stayed with the pack, unlike some of her siblings who have gone off to assist packs in need of hunters, pupsitters and scouts. Contrarian couldn't be prouder of the family he's created and the pack he's currently leading. It's massive grow in size in such a short time can be overwhelming, though. Thankfully, Adversary is always up to either wrestle the stress out of him (or cuddle it out of him preferably, maybe even both.)
