The Journey Begins
Traveled from Windhunter Pack to Glenwood Pack
An adventurous pup since birth, Shadowmoon always knew she wanted to get out of camp and explore the world. Not content with the work of a scout or simply hearing stories from other passing travelers she decided early on that as soon as she was able to hunt her own meals she would be off, as free as the birds in the sky. That day came sooner than her packmates would have liked, sure she was no pup but an adult wolf she was not. Though after a few less than successful attempts to sneak out of camp they relented, granting permission to explore to her heart's content. In hindsight, leaving while the first autumn leaves were falling and with winter's promising scent on the wind, as well as traveling due north, was perhaps not her best idea.
Shadowmoon was found by Chess wandering the icy north where his pack made their home. Her coat did her no favors, a dark blur against the first autumn snowfall. Chess's coat also did him no favors, and upon a second look, neither did his not so wolf-like features. Large black wings gilded with gold at their tips extended from his back, small white horns jutted from his forehead, and his numerous scars and confident demeanor all gave the impression that he didn't particularly care about being easily seen. To her credit, Shadowmoon did try her best to hide, but the unfamiliar terrain combined with the very unfamiliar not quite wolf rendered her attempts to hide poor at best. And so she ran. She didn't get very far, though her effort was admirable. The large wolf easily kept stride, never falling behind or running out of breath. He called out to her, urging her to stop and that he merely wished to speak to her.
Seeing no other immediate option, Shadowmoon turned to face the winged wolf, poised to keep running at the slightest hint of aggression. Chess kept his distance and gently asked why she was wandering inside of his pack's territory and so very near their home. She hesitantly explained that she was a wanderer, going from pack to pack with no clear direction. Chess perked up at her words, quickly offering shelter and food and saying that Shadowmoon was not the first wanderer that the Glenwood pack had taken in. Still rather wary, she followed Chess at a distance until they arrived at the leader's home. She almost didn't see it at first, the snow-packed walls blended in well with the surrounding land. She was ushered inside, marveling at how much warmer she was now that she was out of the biting winds.
Chess went on ahead, a few wolves running up to greet their leader and inspect the newcomer. Shadowmoon noticed with a twinge of fear that very few of these alleged wolves, well, looked like wolves. Feathers, wings, horns, wild fur, too large teeth, bat like ears, and even eyes that glowed like the stars in the sky. She shrunk down, eyes on the floor and tucked her tail in fear of these strange creatures, simply too odd to be called wolves. Taking notice, Chess ushered the crowd away, asking them to give her space. Chess led her over to the pack's hoard, letting her eat her fill and play with a few of the many toys scattered around the clearing. As night fell the temperature continued to drop, even inside the protective walls. Chess asked that she stay the night, saying that he can't in good conscience let her brave the cold of night alone. Not seeing many other options, Shadowmoon agreed.
On the way to the visitor's den, she noticed some wolves carrying some stones into camp. Feeling a little braver on a full stomach, she asked Chess what they were for. Chess explained that they were warmed up in the nearby hotsprings and placed in the dens to help keep them warm throughout the cold nights. He went on to say that most of the wolves in the pack are comfortable enough with each other that they usually just sleep in piles, but he figured Shadowmoon wouldn't be so willing.
The inner walls of the camp, being made of plant matter woven together by generations of paws, usually do enough to keep in the warmth, but most still find the stones nice to curl up near. Shadowmoon thanked the leader and followed him into the den she was shown. There were many wolves in the den, most being around her age. Chess explained that this is the den where pups born into the pack stay until they are old enough to leave on their own. The others seemed content to keep to themselves, each curled in a nest with a few warm stones. Chess wished them all a good night and said that they were all free to grab a pelt or two from the hoard if needed to fend off the cold before leaving for his own den. After making polite small talk with her den-mates, Shadowmoon curled up in her chosen nest. Warm and with a full belly, she decided that maybe these strange wolves weren't so bad after all.
In the end she stayed for an entire year, once again setting off as the leaves were turning and the air turned crisp. During the time she spent with the Glenwood Pack she learned and apprenticed many roles and odd jobs. Learning to look after rambunctious pups, being taught by the herbalist what herbs were safe to eat, many hunters took her under their sometimes literal wings to show all the different roles a hunting party has, but her favoring was always following the scouts on their missions. Though her time with the pack was fun, she still felt that bone deep call to explore, and so she set off again. Bidding farewell to the friends she had made and thanking them for their hospitality, she once again ventured out into the vast world, this time much better prepared for her travels.
Traveled from Glenwood Pack to --------- the Coldwinds Pack
After leaving the Glenwood Pack Shadowmoon found herself with a new smaller pack they called themselves the Coldwinds pack and were known for their icy attitudes. The first wolf she met of the Coldwinds pack was a male who called himself Dark Winds he coldly told her that despite being the King he himself could not agree to let her join for a bit and that Icy Winds would have to agree to her joining as well. When Shadowmoon met Icy Winds she was taken back when the Leader of the Coldwinds pack told her that she may join under the condition that she is not allowed to stay and that she must leave after 2 weeks time is up. Shadowmoon agreed to only stay for 2 weeks but was concerned about what would happen to her pups when Shadowmoon asked about what would happen to her pups when she left Icy Winds calmy said that they would keep and raise the pups once they are Adolescent what they did after was up to them.
