It has been only a few days since Snowdrop hit the road when he realizes how miserable he is. He's shivering, his stomach growls and aches, and all he wants is a dry place to sleep. It's when he comes over the ridge does he spot the strange icy white wolf and a calculating stare.
"You're alone." It's not a question.
"Y-yes." Snowdrop replies.
The wolf looks him up and down. His paws are massive. Snowdrop prays he doesn't strike, he can't take another fight.
"Would you like to join my family?" He asks, tail up and curious. "We have enough food and a warm, dry place for you to stay."
Snowdrop feels his mouth start to water. "I'm afraid I'm not much use in return."
The wolf tilts his head. "You got a fair nose?"
"Fairer than most. I don't have the energy to scout and I'm not fast enough to hunt."
The wolf laughs. "Come with me. Scout for a few days. I'll introduce you to Herbert, we'll put that nose of yours to work."
And Snowdrop follows.
