You guys can go ahead and play in the lake without me... I'm just fine playing on the shore.

"Come on! We can't stop here, we have to make it to higher ground!" His sister Porta snapped at him.

"I think I hear a weird creaking sound..." He said, his ears pinned back in the roaring winds.

Before she could respond, her ears shot up. All at once, the trees in the distance began to topple with a thunderous snap as the sound of rushing water grew louder and more aggressive. Without a second thought, Porta grabbed her brother by the scruff and began to drag him up onto a rock. Just as his paws cleared the sides, a wave of murky water and debris crashed against the side. The once green valley had turned into a massive raging river in a matter of seconds, and was only swallowing more ground with every passing minute.

"You okay? We need to keep going or the water will-" a crack of thunder drowned out the rest, as a bright snap of lightning filled their surroundings. Before either could act, the wind whipped a broken tree trunk through the air, smashing into Porta and knocking her into the river.

"PORTA!" He took one glance into the angry waters before his legs made a decision for him, leaping into the river after his sister.

The water quickly filled his nose and mouth as he bobbed uncontrollably down the river. Mustering every ounce of strength he had, he swam forward with the current, looking frantically for any sign of Porta. With hope dwindling, he finally spotted a teal nose poking out of the water, the rest of her caught between some rocks and preventing her from being swept any further.

With his last bit of strength, he fought the currents and swam into the rocks, hoisting himself onto the island. In one swift motion, he grabs onto Porta and pulls her up to safety, where she lie motionless at his dripping paws. In a panic, he pushes hard on her stomach in an attempt to get her to expel the water, repeating until she gags up a good volume of dirty brown water.

It was not until the morning they were found curled up on the rock together, soaked and shaking.
