Kayami

In a faraway forest, among tall trees and green meadows, a little wolf cub named Kayami was born. He was the largest and most playful of all the pups in the litter. His father, the great leader of the Keenai pack, immediately named his son his heir as soon as he saw him among the other pups.

Kai grew up strong and fast. He quickly learned to hunt small rodents, but big prey and hunting with the pack did not work for him. Because of this, his tribesmen teased and made fun of him. What teenager can't catch a fox or chase an alien wolf off his territory?

Kayami trained hard and saw his father's scornful look more and more often after each unsuccessful hunt. Keenai was not a bad father, but he was a very strict leader. And as a leader, he expected his heir to do better in hunting and in cooperative hunting with the other wolves in the pack.

One frosty day, Kayami spotted a good hunting spot. There was a small herd of caribou grazing there. He spotted a very young fawn. It looked to be only a couple months old. It was easy prey. But the hunting was dangerous because the caribou were grazing near a cliff where a rushing river flowed.

Waiting until the mama deer had moved a little away, Kayami jumped out of his hiding place and pounced on the fawn. The herd growled in alarm and rushed in different directions. The mama deer anxiously began to look for her baby and saw it in the teeth of the wolf. She ran up and with a sharp movement of her head pushed Kayami. From the strong blow to his side he opened his mouth and flew towards the cliff. His fall was short, the wolf hit the water hard and immediately lost consciousness. The cold and rough current carried him into the lake, and there the waves gently left him on the shore.

When Kayami woke up, he was in great pain all over his body. He was very cold, and one of his paws hurt a lot. He looked at it and saw that his claws had been razed down to the bone. Gently stepping on his injured paw, he was able to make his way to the pack where he was treated in the herbalist's tent for a couple months.

His claws on his paw never grew back. So Kai solved this problem by putting large and deadly bear claws on the remains of his paw. He liked this idea a lot and did the same on the rest of his paws. After that, he became a better hunter and did more damage and bleeding with his paws.

When the post of leader came to an end, Keenai gave his place to his son and died a day later with a smile and peace knowing he was leaving his pack in safe paws.
