When he was young, he loved to imagine what was beyond the mountains. He found out by chance that Skyros, one of the pack's elders, used to travel. She saw the world, met a lot of interesting wolves. The more he listened to her, the more he wanted to experience that. That with the fact that he found it hard to find a place in his own pack. So he asked his pack leader, Foxglove, for permission. She understood, gave him a necklace made out of owl talons as a good luch charm. Once he's gotten the blessings of the two she-wolves, Cotton Candy went on his way.
