Kala

Kala is an auburn pup with rust-furred markings and soft grey eyes. She joined the Phoenix Tribe on October 19, 2024.

Kala is a bright wolf with a passion for inventing. She's best friends and work partners with the Raccoon, spending much of her time assisting his trade and coming up with new ideas on what to use his trinkets for. Raccoon's dexterity with his paws helps tune fine details that make helpful inventions for the Tribe and his clients. Their most useful invention is a rudamentary water filter, which has significantly decreased waterborne sickness in the tribe.

As a pup, Kala loved experimenting and learning about the world around her. She loved tying sticks together with vine and rolling stones down cliffs to see how fast she could get them to the bottom.

Her pupsitter, John D'arc, encouraged her curiousity and tried to challenge her with the average pup training, but she found tracking scents and pouncing on toys to be uninteresting.

One day, John D'arc and Hayden brought Kala to the river to drink water. Most wolves do this alone, but since Kala is a pup, D'arc escorted her, with his pairbond Hayden naturally following along. There has been an outbreak of diarrhea in the pack lately, as well, and D'arc admittedly wanted some time away from the stench.

While at the river, D'arc picked up the scent of a cougar and told Kala and Hayden to hide in the bushes. The two did, but when the cougar showed itself and started circling D'arc, Hayden told Kala to creep away in the other direction while he revealed himself, trying to intimidate the predator away from D'arc.

As Kala left, she ended up wandering too far and got lost in the forest. Just a pup, she was unsure what to do, barking softly in hopes her pupsitters would find her.

The sun began to set, it was getting cold in the forest, and Kala was exhausted and really, really hungry. She ended up by a river again, which had a lot of annoying bugs nipping at her coat. D'arc and Hayden were nowhere to be found.

Something furry approached her, bristling its fur. Kala backed away, ears hugged against her head, until the creature seemed to recognize her. It said she smelled like a Phoenix Tribe pup, which she nodded briskly to. Turns out this was Raccoon, a local trader who dealt with their Lead Scout almost daily.
