you walk up to the queen and ask to hear her story.
she solemnly looks to the side before meeting your gaze and answering,
"I am Saraswati, the last of Vr̥dah pack. we were once a powerful pack that controlled an entire lagoon. that is until the humans began migrating. humans were foreign to us, we'd see one or two every blue moon swimming in the clear waters. but they soon began migrating in mass, taking over our beaches and exploring our caves.
many of my pack fell to their traps and their metal monsters. some i saw taken and tortured right before my very eyes. though, our pack leader was too proud to leave our sacred grounds. she refused to leave our history and our ancestors behind.
when there was only a pawful of us left, the shaman urged me and my sister to leave. to run to the Meshki pack as I was set to be betrothed to one of their males, Varuna, before the humans invaded and disrupted the plans for union.
we left under the cover of darkness, taking a few pearls and shells as bribes and memories. although, once we reached their territory it was more devastated than ours with the skeletons of human dens. my sister and I couldn't turn back so we pressed forward, hiding during the day when the humans worked on their dens and moved at night when they left.
thankfully, I found Varuna and another wolf, Narmada among the long naked branches the human used to make their dens. their story was the same as ours, an rapid human migration teared their pack apart. with no where else to go, they joined us in search of the other sea wolf packs for sanctuary.
sanctuary that never came. as we moved along the coast, it seemed like the humans had taken over all of the eight seawolf packs. with nowhere else to go, my sister, Varuna, Narmada, the pawful other surviving wolves, and I left our homes and followed the river that led away from the humans to find a new place to live.
we established ourselves as the Margārīta, a tribute to all our previous packs. on our search upriver for a new place to live, we lost a few pack mates to either sickness, age, or fatigue. even my own sister didn't make the journey. but after many moons, we have found sanctuary at this mountain.
it is not ideal but have no intention on pushing my pack any further. until our scouts find another suitable location, this is our new home."
