Lore (if wanted): SpoilerIt was a cold winter afternoon, and the sun was setting over the snowy landscape of the Deciduous Forest. Slide was on her first voyage since becoming a traveler for her pack, but she was not faring well so far, as the weather had not been kind to her. As she wandered along, she wondered if she'd die in this cold. Rather than being optimistic about finding shelter, she assumed she wouldn't find any. While she was trudging through the snow, imagining her frozen corpse getting picked at by ravens, she was startled by a sound. She looked to her left just in time to see a doe racing through the snowy forest, followed by five wolves. 'They didn't notice me.'' she thought to herself, looking in the direction they ran. She decided to follow them, thinking she could ask for shelter or at least directions out of this frigid forest. She walked after the wolves, not wanting to run and scare them. After about 30 minutes, she finally caught up with them. Three of them were dragging the doe carcass, but they stopped and turned to look at Slide when a wolf with uneven piebald markings pointed her out. "What do you want?" The piebald wolf snapped, taking a step towards Slide. "Good lock stealing our food if that's what you're after." She snarled, but a black and tan wolf with split patches stepped in front of her. "I don't think one wolf is going to try to teal from the five of us." She spoke calmly, walking towards Slide. "What are you doing out here?" Slide cleared her throat. "I'm a traveler searching for my next stop, but I'll probably die in this cold before I make it there." She said with a sigh, then a reddish-brown wolf scoffed from where she was standing by the carcass. "Well jeez, don't get all optimistic on us." She said sarcastically, sitting down on the snow. A gray merle wolf laughed a bit, agreeing with the reddish wolf. "Right?" Another wolf chimed in; he was red with colorful striped on his body. "You should come with us back to our pack. It's our duty to make sure you have shelter now that we've found you." He stepped forward, opening his mouth to speak again, but he was interrupted by the piebald wolf. "What? No, we don't have time for that. We're leaving her here." She said firmly, but the black and tan wolf spoke up again. "You're not in charge Lilac. We're taking her with us." Lilac scoffed. "I should be." She said, glaring at the snow. "Will you come with us?" The black and tan wolf asked, looking down at Slide. Slide nodded, appreciative that she would be going with them. "Good." She said, smiling at Slide. "My names Dove. Thats Tekoa," the red wolf with stripes nodded as his name was spoken. "Sienna," The reddish-brown wolf gave an unamused grin. "Amity," The merle wolf said a simple "Hi.", looking bored. "and of course, Lilac." The piebald wolf rolled her eyes, looking away to scowl again. "I'm Slide." The little white wolf said, then Dove nodded. "Nice to meet you." She said, turning away and beginning to walk. "Let's hurry before the sun sets and we all freeze." And with that, Sienna, Amity and Lilac started dragging the carcass again, and they all headed back with Slide following. As they all entered the packs camp, many of the other wolves stared at Slide, inspecting her as she passed. Some seemed excited to have a newcomer, some were distressed by the sight, and some didn't care at all. Dove took Slide to the leaders den, leaving the others behind to take care of the doe carcass. Inside a large den at the edge of the camp, two elderly wolves were resting. They
looked up when Dove entered with the traveler. "Oh? What've you got there?" An orange and gold wolf said, raising his head off the bed he was laying on. "This is Slide. She is a traveler who followed us during a hunt." Dove stated, glancing at Slide. A gray wolf yawned, standing up from her place beside the orange wolf. "What is your business here, traveler?" The gray wolf said, adjusting her footing. As she moved, the smoky quarts jewelry she wore clinked and clacked together, making a mystical sound. Slide cleared her throat, bowing her head for a moment before looking up at the queen. "I'm just looking for temporary shelter. I won't cause any trouble." The gray wolf paused, looking down at the young white wolf. "Well, then shelter you shall be granted." She laid back down with a groan. "You will have access to our food and water, and you will be protected by the pack as if you are one of our own. However," she paused again, possibly for dramatic effect. "you will need to contribute something to the pack in return." After a moment of thought, she decided on Slide's new role in the pack. "Since you are a traveler, scouting should be an easy job for you." Slide nodded before speaking. "Thank you, I'll do my best." The gray wolf smiled. "I'm pleased to hear that." after another pause, she looked at the orange wolf. "This is Cypress, and I am Azuli. Welcome, to Oak Ridge pack." After this, Slide left with Dove who showed her around. Slide met many of the wolves that evening, including Hemera, her fellow scout. The next morning, Hemera explained some of the best scouting routes to take before Slide's first scouting mission. Her expedition went swimmingly, and she even returned with a catfish skull. As the days passed, Slide made some friends. Her favorite wolf was Ephraim, who she enjoyed long walks and pessimistic conversations with. After lingering in the pack for a few months, she had become very comfortable there, but she knew she couldn't stay forever. The road was calling her again, and who was she to deny it? She visited Azuli, who was understanding to request. As a parting gift, Azuli gave Slide one of her quartz body ornaments. Early the next morning, Slide left the pack after eating breakfast. She was accompanied by Ephraim, who had offered to walk her to the boarder. When they reached their destination, they bid their final goodbyes, and Slide left with a bittersweet feeling in her chest.
