Found alongside Willow, the aggressive male was protecting his friend from a rather harsh Kiba and his hunting party (the context being the two young wolves accidentally disturbed Kiba's hunt). Goldensun, the pack's elder she-wolf convinced the young alpha male to allow the two to seek refuge while Willow nurses her pups. The white wolf allows them, knowing that Gilligan would have his hide if he turned away a young mother.

Conte, however, due to his bossy nature, sometimes clashes with Kiba. He struck a nerve more often than not so Gilligan found a way to help ease the tension. She gave Conte the task of learning herbs, noting he had some skill with role from how he had been caring for Willow. Conte has since taken to his role rather well and enjoys the solitude it brings him.
