Amaterasu, less formally known as Amy.
Amy and Tsukiyo (her sister) both had come from the same pack many moons ago. That pack was also matriarchal, but the males were treated rather poorly. Amy, who once walked in on her mother beating up her father for apparently producing bad pups, decided that day that she would never let males be treated so poorly again.
Confronting her mother, Amy vowed to leave and form a pack where males were treated kindly, and with love. They were assets indeed, as males were the ones who filled all the roles in a pack, but they weren't to be treated poorly.
And so, with word shaving been exchanged between her and her mother, Amy left that pack with her sister. After traveling for some time they settled in the mountains and formed the Lunar Lotuses, a matriarchal pack where the males are treated kindly for their services to the pack.
Amaterasu is a honest, just, and caring wolf. She thinks each wolf ought to be treated in their own right. Does that mean she will keep every male pup that is born into the pack? By all means, no. Amy believes that other packs may benefit from them more. If all of her pack roles are filled, Amy may only keep a male pup is he proves better than one of her current males. All females, of course, don't normally hold a pack role, and they serve the purpose of running the pack.
