Chato was found as a young pup by Kamael during one of her outings. He was found soaking wet dragging along an even younger Pollito by the scruff. After being taken back to Jagged Rock and the pack allowing the two to rest he had explained to them that the two of them had been chased out due to overcrowding and the Packfather deciding males go first. As per tradition for permanent Viajero members, the two revoked their old names, instead choosing pupnames until they were adults and had thought over what names they wanted. Out of the two, he was the meeker pup. Quiet and reserved he followed Kamael around like a chick. Though he wasn't above getting into trouble with his 'brother'.
Once he became an adult Chato decided on keeping his pupname despite it being a slight jab as his nose. He found that neither the hunter nor scout roles suited him, and pupsitting was definitely out of the question. He still occasionally joined Kameal on her walks and during one of them met the old grizzly bear. Immediately Chato asked his leader to become a herbalist. Kameal, needing one anyway, agreed. He now takes his own walks for herbs and regularly attends to his pack.
