Great Horned Owl was abandoned as soon as he was weaned off milk. Being the runt of the litter was tough- it takes a lot of care and effort to take care of one. He learned quickly that not every wolf would want to take that little bit of extra effort, and it devastated him. His parents- An icy blue alpha with eyes that burned through other wolves' pelts and judged them down to the bone, and his mother, a beautiful chocolate-furred herbalist with too much on her mind, put him up for adoption with a simple price. One, single silver pinecone. Owl, poor Owl, was allowed to stay in the pack, the pack that he was born in and that constantly took note of how small and weak and vulnerable he was, the pack that his whole family lived in and thrived in, just until he got adopted. He doubted the small percentage, the small chance ANYONE would want a pup like him. Who would take the effort to care for a runt? He was quickly proven wrong when a slender female wolf with the fur of fresh almonds and chestnuts, came in with a small, silver pinecone. He cautiously followed the figure, until he reached a small clearing. He didnt think much of it, but he finally felt the feeling of being at home. He didnt get along with the other pups too much, I mean, they were basically newborns, who could blame him, but he made an effort to talk to every other pack member he could. The hunters as they came back from their hunt, usually empty handed. The scouts as they came back from the search of new lands, even the pup sitter of the other pups. Of course, a pack is usually busy- especially when everyone has a job to do and weight to pull. Owl quickly grew bored of throwing around rocks and small branches, and searching through whatever was in each wolf's den. One day, lobster walked in with a fresh face. A lean, gentle male wolf with the pelt of soft chalk who had the eyes of a slimy snail's shell. Owl didn't jump up right away, but instead waited to see what would happen. He was pretty bored, and usually he was involved. Maybe watching from afar would be exciting? He had never tried it, and figure it was worth it. After a brief tour, the pale wolf headed in Owl's direction- he was excited, sure, but he was nervous. The wolf, who introduced himself as Stoat, offered to be Owl's caretaker and best friend. Owl accepted- Well, he accepted the best friend part. He declined he ever needed a caretaker or protector at all, but what he didnt learn yet was that the best friend package automatically comes with the protection of a lifetime.
