✨Charming - Beta and Scout
"home strength, industrious leader"
It took them no time, no time at all to fall for each other. But all it took was a moment for it all to come crashing down.
The firstborn was weak and died within a month of being born, they mourned her, their Zula. Buried her by the large tree that marked the entrance to the Leaders den. They separated after that, the founders young love and infatuation rotting with the vibrance of their firstborn as she nourished the ground.
Their youngest got to adolescence, but never set her paws into adulthood. She'd been coddled, caged, her parents wouldn't let her do anything much than play with the guards assigned to her as they didn't want her to get hurt, they didn't want to lose another one. And the guards wouldn't let her play too roughly, or too far away.
This led to a rebellious faze that Emory could see coming, at least in hindsight. Though she had told Reese that Ember needed to play with the other pups, be given some freedom, he insisted. She was his only heir, she needed to be protected. And he would train up her betrothed so she would always be protected. It made Emory sick, but she was the beta and couldn't fight him on it. She could only try and spend time with Ember and take her places in secret.
But their Ember was a spitfire, and she wanted to things she hadn't gotten the strength or experience to do. She wanted to be like her mother and father, scouting and exploring the lands. So she set off determined to prove to them that she could be useful and a leader, but she set off and didn't return.
They didn't find her body until it had started to rot, and in her passing they wept together. The pack needed an heir but this time they would have to do better.
This time they would need to let their children rise.
Emory is haunted by her two daughters deaths, often feeling as if the crows that accompany her are their spirits, and the haunting visions of her children are actually real. But no one else see's the black and grey wolves she see's every time she opens her eyes. The ones asking why she didn't save them.
