Born in the Fifth Autumn of The Sanctuary Pack

Parents: Finch and Hayseed. Sired by Chicory

Personality: Upbeat and rambunctious, Maize can be a bit of a handful to her fathers. However, her litter caught a bad case of puphood pneumonia, which sadly caused all of Maize's littermates to pass away; she was the only survivor, and suffers lingering effects of the illness.

Always short of breath, Maize is incapable of the kind of work most of her packmates do; running, fighting, scouting, hunting, foraging-- all of these are out of her power.

Her packmates are currently trying to shuttle her into a role as a pupsitter, as it's the only job she's really capable of, but Maize hates the work-- she's not really patient enough to deal with young pups all day. She struggles to reconcile her active nature with her physical issues, and wonders what her place in the pack will be, moving forward.

(i'm going to tell you a secret. the lesson she learns is that you don't have to do work to be valuable and worthwhile. and that she doesnt have to prove she's just as capable as other wolves to be worth something. she isn't as physically capable as other wolves & thats like. okay. it doesn't make her less important than the rest of them).
