Winecap is a hunter in the Viridis Greenwood pack. He is named after the choice edible mushroom known as the king stropharia, winecap, or garden giant. He has an unfriendly personality.
Winecap was originally set to be Viridis Greenwood's first stud, but when Calendula found a certain pink looking wolf with hazel eyes and a contrasting yet charming brown stripe over his body, the concept of him becoming a stud became laughable.
However, to compensate the guy, the alpha made him the leader of what would become the Viridis Greenwood Pack's first fully manned hunting party: Graminaceous Fangs, which is really just a fancy way of saying "grassy teeth". Winecap came up with their catchphrase: "We bite through our prey the way blades of grass bite the sky!"
Winecap may or may not now have an inferiority complex due to being passed over as stud, and also because despite looking rather large to most of the pack, the hunter knows that he was the runt of his litter.
The russet colored wolf was notified that he may be demoted from his position due to his personality -- everyone meshes well together except for him, meaning he can't be in a hunting party unless it's with people who are standoffish like he is or aggressive like he is. Winecap was consequently very upset, and lashed out by going after risky prey trails -- while he luckily didn't get hurt, at the same time he took up valuable time for hunting that the newly formed Graminaceous Fangs could've used.
It was due to this that the alpha came to a compromise with him: Calendula would get Winecap a team of wolves whose personalities suited his more if he stopped going on wild goose chase hunts. Winecap, secretly relieved he was being given a leadership position again, made it look as if he reluctantly agreed.
