Genesse I

Genesse, “the usurper”.

Born the first day of spring, this unlikely little pup would soon, in a single fell swoop, become the future of Sola Invictus. To a mother that is soft spoken and beautiful, it is of no surprise that when mated with Spice, they produce the most beautiful of litters. The early morning in which she entered this earth was special: alongside Seraph, the then herbalist, her mother pushed her and her siblings out with ease. Winter’s chill had left as soon as she had taken her first breath, it is said, and was replaced by the gentlest of breezes as the flowers bloomed and the birds sung.

Her birth-given name: “Posala.”

When her father Spice first looked upon her, it is also told that he felt in his very marrow that this was The One. His heir, meant to carry his pack into this new age. It is not lightly that he took the responsibility on of informing his pack of this decision, starting first with the mother Mhyra, who agreed, albeit reluctantly, to put her daughter onto such a path. Then he went about breaking the news to his mate, Pumpkin, who was not wroth with him as much as she was grimly accepting; and finally, to his original heir, Pumpkin Seed, who felt as if this was her very life’s meaning.

This would of course cause an enormous rift between Pumpkin Seed and Genesse early on, a problem that would only persist into adulthood. It is not hate that boils in Pumpkin Seed’s belly, but disappointment and jealousy. It ought to have been her to carry this burden. She had fought through many more winters than this child, and stayed in spite of it all, even when the odds were against her. She knew what had to be done. What did Genesse know? “Nothing.”

But Genesse, just as kind as her mother before her, could not bare to find fault in her scorned half-sister. She loved her, loves her, with all her heart. Ever since she was little she had wanted to be just like her. That is why she did not grow up spoiled and empty headed: Pumpkin Seed was her example, her idol. 

Though despair did not reck her social life. Born around the same time, her future mate, Takoda, became her closest friend. It is no surprise. Both are alike in demeanor, being fair and calm, and could talk easily. As they grew, the love they fostered for each other blossomed, and she would rather have him than her sister’s former intended, Garrus. With Garrus she had nothing in common, nor did she have much to like. But Takoda she could trust with her life, and he felt the same.
