Darkstar’s name at birth was Darkspark, because of a white fleck on his forehead that disappeared soon after his birth. He had three siblings- Lightning Strike, Bright Night, and Gone in a Flash. Gone in a Flash very sadly lived up to his name, and died when he was six weeks old after a weak mountain-tree fell on him during a storm. Lightning Strike and Bright Night were both killed by a wolf from another pack, so Darkspark and his mother were left alone. Soon, his mother became seriously ill with distemper, and she left Darkspark on a rocky ledge when he was five months old in the hope of another wolf finding him and being able to look after him. Instead, a wolf the same age as him found him as she was playing in the ridges of the mountains. She told him that she was an orphan, and they formed a strong bond, always hunting together and sharing the catch, even if it was just a small rat. When they were a year old, Darkspark suggested making their own pack, and the young wolf, Amber, agreed earnestly. Darkspark decided to change his name to Darkstar, as he loved watching the stars pricking the midnight sky. Soon, his and Amber’s pack began to build, and each member became a sort of family.
