Eirene was the the largest pup of her mother's second litter. She had four litter mates, and two older siblings. Of her four litter mates, two died before they were even weaned. She and her two surviving litter mates, Adrienne and Jysir, grew into strong young wolves.
Eirene was named for her mother's mother, a Queen who had been killed by a neighboring pack, the Clan Kalovaxia, and its Kaiser. It was in fact that Kaiser's only son, Søren, who was eventually lover and helper of her mother, Queen Theodosia of Clan Astrea. The females of Clan Astrea, according to her mother, never took mates, only lovers.
Eirene, Adrienne, and Jysir were barely adults when Theodosia and Søren were both killed by a Laird of their Clan. The Laird Usur, was the daughter of the Kaiser with Princesa Cress, both of would had been killed when Theodosia took back her Clan. Eirene ran for the forests, while Jysir ran for the mountains, both naming new Clans. Jysir's was called Old Astrea, and Eirene's was simply called Clan Astrea. Adrienne, meanwhile was a diversion who died during the overthrow.
Ghost, a Guardian of Sharai, the Goddess of Water, joined her, being not much older than the young female. They decided to reestablish Clan Astrea as a force to be feared.
