Llithyia, a female, gave birth to a single male pup named Zombie in late spring. His family was small, consisting of his mother and father Sylvain, as well as his aunt Fawna. They had no territory, so they were constantly on the move, which was difficult during Zombie's nursing period. When he was young, his mother only spent time with him to nurse him before leaving to find food for the small pack. While his mother and aunt were away, it was mostly his father who took care of him and raised him. While his father was grooming him, he inquired as to why his mother was never present, and he later learned that his family had been wrongfully exiled for alleged betrayal of the alpha female of their birth pack, and Llithyia had been cold and aggressive ever since. When Zombie asked his mother what had happened, Llithyia explained that she used to be the birth pack's sub-alpha, but she and the alpha female didn't always agree. When she began to form friendships with the alphas of the rival pack, she and her family were exiled for treason and betrayal despite the fact that no laws were broken. She then informed him "My son, trust is a sign of weakness. Put your trust in no one but yourself, because even those you love the most will stab you in the back."
Zombie always remembered and valued what his mother told him, despite the fact that she rarely said anything to him in the first place. When he was weaned and ready for training, his aunt Fawna took on the task of teaching him how to hunt successfully in both groups and alone. His mother taught him how to fight and defend himself at night, and she was a harsher teacher than his soft-spoken aunt. It was a grueling and exhausting process, and by the age of two, he had become so accustomed to the "hunt by day-fight by night" routine that he developed a very serious and mature outlook on life. Because he was an only child, he never had the opportunity to play and grow up like most puppies. As a result, his primary focus was on his training and impressing his mother. She was never completely satisfied with him, but his father never stopped bragging about how proud he was of his son.
The small pack began to head north once Llithyia felt Zombie was ready to travel with them to new places in search of new territory. They were passing through unfamiliar territory one evening when they were confronted by the pack's border patrol. Among the patrol was a stunning white female who had piqued Zombie's interest, and she had taken an interest in him as well. The border patrol escorted them safely out of their territory, and both groups were able to resume their lives. Zombie, on the other hand, had different plans because he wanted to see Nolina again. He sneaked back late at night to see if she was waiting for him, and she was. These late-night excursions continued for months, and Zombie's ability to reach her became increasingly difficult as his family moved further and further away. On a warm summer night, the two had one last meeting and decided to elope and start their own family. He knew his mother would be furious when she awoke, but he didn't care. All he wanted was to spend time with his new mate. They settled at the foot of the mountains, and Nolina gave birth to a lovely young female named Spiral in early winter. Nothing could possibly ruin his new life with his new perfect little family, he was certain.
Perfection, however, does not always last, as Zombie and his new family were unaware that Nolina's pack had been tracking them since they left. It was against her pack's rules for her to leave, let alone mate with a male from outside the pack. Zombie became alarmed when he detected the scent of the pack scouts. Their howls echoed through the pine forest as it became clear that they weren't safe. They ran deep into the mountains, gathering Spiral and Nolina, until they were trapped against a drop to death. The scouts pursued Zombie and his family, and just as Zombie was preparing for a massive fight, an avalanche triggered and swallowed up everything in sight, sweeping Zombie away from his mate and pup. When he reappeared, he went in search of his family. In the silence, he called out to his mate and dug frantically in the freshly powdered snow. He'd tripped over something hard while looking for signs of life, and tufts of fur protruded from the snow. He dug furiously, his heart racing in anticipation of what he might discover. When Nolina's lifeless face appeared, his heart shattered, and he felt as if his entire world had died with her. His lovely mate had died of suffocation, and he had been too late to save her. His thoughts then turned to his daughter, Spiral. He searched for hours but couldn't find any trace of her small body, so he gave up and assumed she had also suffocated. He returned to Nolina's body to mourn, only to discover that her body had been taken by the scouts who had been pursuing them. In a fit of rage, he snapped his jaws and slammed his paw into the snow. He couldn't even mourn properly. Zombie's mind snapped that day, and he vowed never to give in to his emotions again. He knew he should never have Left his family, and the result was death. He became cold, aggressive, and dark, much like his mother. He then decided to start over and rise to power so that one day he could redeem himself and avenge his love's death.
Stallion was exhausted and weak after his loss when he descended from the mountains. He was on the verge of losing himself completely, when he was discovered by a kind elderly female named Daisy. Daisy took him in and nursed him back to health, and when he was well enough, he vowed to find a new home and one day repay her kindness by granting her a place of eternal rest to spend her golden years. It didn't take long for him to find Aryn and decide to observe them for a few days to ensure that this was the pack he would infiltrate and rise to power. When he was certain of his decision, he confronted Aryn's alpha, Rowan, and passed the test that all newcomers must pass in order to be accepted into Aryn: defeat and kill an existing member. Over time, he firmly established himself in the pack as a formidable guard, revered by Rowan and feared by his adversaries. While out on patrol, he came across a young and very beautiful female named Ravika, and on the spur of the moment, he gave her his old spying den to keep her close to Aryn with the intention of meeting her in secret. He eventually fell in love with her, and she eventually fell in love with him. Now he had even more reason to take over Aryn: to provide a safe haven for those who had shown him kindness, and to keep his beloved Ravika safe by his side, where they could start a family as alphas of a powerful pack. He devised a strategy to gather followers from both within and outside the pack to support his leadership, so that when the time came to claim the throne, he could do so with ease. Three wolves stood in his way: Rowan, his son Archer, and Hexa, an equally powerful and rival guard. Archer and Hexa were both completely devoted to Rowan, and they would stand by him until the bitter end. Archer, in particular, had his sights set on the throne, because Rowan was growing old and would soon have to choose a successor from among his many children, but there was a good chance that Zombie would be chosen first and foremost, which enraged Archer. Ravika was no longer safe, as some members of the pack had begun to suspect Zombie's frequent visits outside the borders. In an attempt to save her, he sent her with a group of refugees who had left to form the Marrow pack, promising to return to her once he had secured his position.
