Ultima Thule

An inbred male, born unto a frail mother.  A littermate to five, a younger brother to many others.  He bears his mother's name and legacy on his shoulders, and despite his stained heritage, he will trudge on further.

Ultima Thulé was purchased from the Trading Center at a young age of around four months old.  Her previous owners had not taken care of her, and she was, quite frankly, about to die.  Callisto took her in and nursed her to health with the aid of her son, Phobos, the lead pupsitter, and in due time, she grew into a beautiful adolescent, spritely, eager, and optimistic for the future.

Her value wasn't of importance, only her beauty.  She couldn't fulfill any role but to become a pupsitter upon reaching adulthood, and so, she took on her duty with stride.  She enjoyed caring for youngsters the way Callisto had done for her, giving each and every one of them a chance at life, no matter how grim the expectations may be.  She had witnessed deaths, but lived a story of triumph, simply trying her hardest day to day to ensure that someday, some puppy will live.

She had litters of her own, sending some off to other packs, caring for the others until adulthood when they leave to find their own paths.  It wasn't until she hit the ripe age of four that she birthed a litter of six, all of which weren't meeting Callisto's expectations.

In a fit of anger, she snatched up two of the newborns and cast them into the arms of death.  She took the other four and attempted to sell them, threatening to have Ultima killed.  At the end of it all, Ultima Thulé returned to her humble beginnings, sitting in the Trading Center, awaiting purchase.  Starving, sulking, but waiting.  It was there that she found her new pack, and her old name was cast aside.  She was renamed Petrel, and her activities from then on hadn't been recorded.

Months went by, and the four puppies became adolescents.  Three had been volunteered to the arms of an experimental herbalist of another pack, where they all had unfortunately succumbed.  The last left standing was a liver coated male, bearing his mother's eyes and nose, and her trademark Gray Agouti.  The future looked bleak for him, as he too awaited the jaws of death, but Callisto had soon found what seemed to be mercy.

His mother, Ultima Thulé, had been cast out into the wilderness.  Chased, perhaps to never be found.

Callisto grieved.  Her youngling, her friend, her most trustworthy pupsitter, had been sentenced to death, in most cases.  Lone wolves rarely ever make it on their own.  Guilt crept over her, and eventually, she set out on a mission to find the remains of this she-wolf's family.

Halley, a pupsitter residing in Callisto's pack, was the only other living relative that bore her name.  Another half-brother resided among another pack, but he wasn't able to be contacted.  So, Halley and her half-brother were united, and Callisto promised her sibling a mate upon his maturity.  One younger than he, so his mother's name could pass on.  But, as most should expect, Callisto's mercy rarely lasts for long.  Some say the male will soon meet the boneyard, left to wander the outskirts of their territory, an unwelcome familiar face.  It has happened all too often before to ones whom she "loved".

But, for now, only time will tell, and the legacy lives on, perhaps only for one more day.

Ultima Thule's legacy lives on through inbreeding, despite it being a practice that is frowned upon.  All wolves that bear her blood will be named Arrokoth with suitable numbers to indicate their time of birth versus that of another.
