At first a warrior of the Floodriver pack, he survived brutal injuries in a battle with a maddened mountain lion and started to receive visions. As the shaman-augurist, he was an ally of and (briefly) mate to the Floodriver heir, Adze.
During the great drought, he began to have visions and prophecies of the Three-Headed Wolf-Eagle, understood by most to be a messiah-like aspect of Predation/Hunger, a major figure in the lupine pantheon. When three strange young wolves came to the Floodriver territory out of the desert, a significant portion of the pack believed them to be Oksoko (an ancestral word for the three-headed eagle) and treated them as such.
After the split between the old Floodriver pack and the Oksokans, Tomahawk followed Adze and the Dark Three and retained his position as shaman in the new pack.
