Gaji

Gaji was originally born deep in the swampy marshlands, the first to come before his 3 siblings. Destined to be a great leader from the start, Gaji did his best to care for his siblings in the harsh landscape around them, but he was not alone. Despite not having a pack to call her own, his mother had her best friend with her, who just so happened to give birth to her own litter shortly after Gaji and his siblings were born. Phosmoro, the second pup born in this litter of twins, became closely bonded to Gaji, and they helped raise their siblings together. However, in the dangerous environment they lived in, they were never guaranteed any safety. Two of Gaji's siblings fell victim to stealthy predators, and Phosmoro's mother succumbed to disease shortly after her pups were weaned. Distraught, Gaji's mother did her best to raise Phosmoro and his sister alongside her own pups alone. And she succeeded.

Once approaching one year of age, each of the pups parted ways with their mother to start their own pack or to join another. Gaji and Phosmoro had bonded so closely that they had decided to leave together. They escaped the dangerous marsh, traveled through forests and crossing many rivers before they had finally come across the Sierra Mountains. It was here they decided to settle, feeling refreshed in the crisp, cold air of the mountain range. It was here where they dubbed themselves the Sierra Canids. It was here where their bond would only grow stronger and last till death do us part.

[2y 1/2 month, 6/11/2021] In the beginning of winter of the second year, Gaji found himself sitting alone, watching the mountain lake slowly freeze over as the sun dipped below the valley. He stared at his reflection in the water, which could only stare back at him. While it had only been his second winter in the mountains, something about this season felt off. He could not find an answer to this strange gut feeling he had, no matter where he looked. It was not a bad feeling, that much he knew, but it was a feeling of change, and it only got stronger as the winds blew colder.

A familiar voice calling his name broke Gaji out of his trance. Koyo was trotting towards him, looking a little exhausted. He told Gaji that he had wandered far from the territory, past the Coniferous Forest, through the Taiga and even further than the Tundra. Gaji began to reprimand him for going so far when he was so inexperienced, but he was quickly silenced by the news of a newly discovered biome, the Glacier. He felt a strange relief wash over him, as if he had finally found part of the answer to the nagging feeling he had. What did the Glacier have to do with this peculiar feeling? Gaji makes a mental note to explore this biome soon. Koyo gets a stern talking to about being too in over his head and is commanded to stay closer to home until he becomes more experienced, despite his protests.

Herbalist Mozil had only 1/3 charcoal available to make another to store for later use, but traded in 3 cedar bark and 3 buffaloberry for 2 charcoal and got to work on crafting the cure at 2y 6 1/2m, 38%.

[1y  8m|1y 8 1/2m, 6/2-3/2021] Contracted diarrhea after digging through poop in the Taiga. Late symptoms caused the diagnosis to be late by half a month, but he was treated with stored diarrhea cure. Herbalist Mozil was already in the process of making more, despite still having some left over.
