You find yourself in the deepest heart of the forest.

Your muscles are aching—you’ve been walking for what feels like hours now, and the sun is beginning to set, its orange glow just barely peeking through the blanket of leaves overhead. Stories of the terrible things that lurk in this wood echo in your mind, and though you know they’re likely nothing but tall tales, you still feel a certain urgency in your chest to find some kind of shelter before nightfall, somewhere safe.

“Are you lost?”

The sudden voice startles you. It’s soft, nearly blending in with the sounds of the underbrush, but you were convinced you were alone out here. Why would someone else be this deep in the forest?

You don’t think to voice this concern though, left to merely watch in silence as a wolf, strong but with gentle eyes, steps forward on huge, silent paws through the nettles and leaves into your view. His presence is warm, reassuring, despite those cool, icy eyes. He bows his head in greeting and gazes steadily at you, as if trying to figure you out.

“My name is Conrad...Do you need help?”
