In Memory Of Penny
Penny had many families before mine. Before she became part of my family, she was the priest's dog. She stayed with the priest at the church, and always loved to see everyone on sundays.
She got lonely during the week, though, so the priest brought her to my family to dog-sit her.
The first time she came over, Elmo, my first dog, was so happy to see her. They both played and played and played- it was adorable, and they loved to be around each other.
She ended up staying at my house more and more, until the priest had to leave for an assignment in Alaska. He left Penny with my family, since she had grown attached to Elmo, and he didn't think that she would like the cold.
Penny stayed with me through everything, the sweetest little girl, even though she was getting up there in her age. She was always happy, no matter what.
She howled when she thought things were unfair.
She would run away when someone opened a box, giving you a dirty look, like this was your fault.
She would roll around on the furniture to itch her back.
She loved to chase lazer pointers, and would bite at it if you pointed it at her paw.
When she got left behind on walks, she would whine and whine and whine, and stand on the windowsill to wait for you to come back.
She was scared of thunder, and would hide away in the bottom of the linen closet where she felt safe when it would storm.
When you did end up taking her on walks, she would pull on the leash, so hard that she would end up choking herself, if it weren't for her wearing a harness, instead. She wanted to go where she wanted to go, on her own time.
When you would pet her chest, she would lift up her paw to get you to scratch her belly instead.
She would try and open the trash can with her nose, even if it was locked, and would eat anything, even a greasy paper towel, dragging it into her cage to eat it. She knew that she wasn't supposed to do that, but she did it anyways, because she wanted to. She was an absolute pig.
She also loved her adopted brother, Elmo. They would play together all the time, and Penny would howl at him when she felt like he was being too rough.
She also loved car rides. She would stick her nose out the window to smell everything, and at one point, she managed to unroll the window all the way, and almost jumped out of the car.
She loved to be brushed, and had like a hundred different spots that would make her leg kick.
