Hephaestus was the first completely special pup to wander into Lycastus. He brought with him, his mate, Athena. Together, the bonded pair looked to Jax and Avery, a pair of star-crossed lovers for guidance. 

"You see, our packs abandoned us," Hephaestus whined as he looked carefully at the pair. We cannot offer you much, but my love and I...we can bring great prosperity and a long line of promising pups to the pack. 

"Foolish little pup," Jax cooed as she nuzzled the older of the two. "You're more than welcomed to join us, but be prepared - you, my little one, will scout the land far and wide, learning and growing as you do. Your mate, Dearest Athena...why, she'll become a wonderful huntress, earning her keep by providing food and assurance to the pack."

"Jax, since when do you make final decisions?" Luna huffed as she padded over to the group, her nose in the air. "These two were destined to find us - it is our duty to protect them until they are grown, and with my mate...our dear Herbalist Alastair, no longer accepting new mates, it seems you, my dearest Hephaestus, have come at just the right time."

No one could argue with Luna, the aged leader of Lycastus. Without another word, Jax and Avery agreed to adopt the pair, knowing full and well that they would change the dynamic of the pack for years to come.
