Fallen Leaf, unlike his Alpha, was the last born of his parent's first and only litter. There had been six pups, and he had been rather average. He was often looked over, cast aside in favor of the strongest who would soon rule the pack, but not coddled like the weakest who would be revered as the pack's lovable omega. He left as soon as he was able, and wandered across forests and plains to reach the mountain territory he calls home.
After months of wandering he came upon Painted Peak, who was looking to start a pack of her own. Fallen Leaf took the opportunity and offered himself to her gladly. He fathered her pups, and helped bring in new wolves when Peak dedicated more time to exploration and nursing her pups. In the end, however, he knew they did not love each other, not in the way that lifetime mates do. He knew she would be happy with whomever she chose, and he had resigned himself to being apart of another pack, remembered for his efforts in founding the new family.
And if, sometimes, he lingers too long near the den with the pupsitter, well, that's his business. It wasn't as if he would be having more pups any time soon.
