A strange clearing in the ever expansive forest opens itself to the sun's rays, shedding light through thick canopies of leaves that never fully stray away from vibrant golds and blazing reds. A gurgling creek reflects light and shines it onto smooth stones that litter the forest floor, birds sings above and crickets chirp from afar.
Named the Solar's Reach, it is the only spot of pure sun in miles of dense forest canopies.
With a closer look, one might notice a single wolf who resides there. One whose coat bares a striking resemblance to the golden leaves above, as well as the sun that bares down upon them. They bask in a pile of leaves. Staying a while longer, one can watch the leaves start to shift- not like they would from an evening's breeze- but with energy. Fresh faces of young pups pop up from their hiding places. One, at first, then another, and another- much too many for one wolf to have birthed.
But there are no other grown wolves in the clearing, and by the scent of it, no others have been around for quite a long time.
You hadn't noticed the stark contrast of the wolf's eyes from their golden coat till they were rested upon you. Despite the soft look they held, a shiver still shoots up your spine. Maybe it's best to move along...
