Biography
Samahl arrives in the Emerald March with three other youngsters around his age, all girls. The young ladies expected him to start and lead a pack of his own, but that's the last thing he wants. He'd much rather join a friendly pack and live as a subordinate. Even after integrating into the pack the girls still pester him, insisting that he should one day sire their pups. This terrifies poor Samahl - he loves the girls as his friends not girlfriends! Besides, the only wolves in the pack that are actually allowed to have and fully raise their pups are the Leaders. Reminding them of this just sends the girls back to where they started, saying they should break off and start their own pack.
At a loss, the young wolf searches for advice. It is one of the Leaders, Solas, that he is finally able to confide in. Solas is a good listener and pays rapt attention as Samahl lets go of all his built up frustration. When the boy's energy is spent Solas makes a suggestion: Samahl could start his own 'pack' within the territory; one that owes fealty to the Emerald March Pack but lives away from the main dens. This way, Samahl and his friends would still have the protection of a larger pack while still living a semi-independent life. They would still be considered Tuathelan'en and hunt and socialize with the pack proper, but at the end of the day return to their own dens. Samahl concedes it isn't a terrible idea, and that he would think about it. It would at least get the girls off his back.
Now that Samahl and his friends are grown they have officially 'split off' from the Emerald March Pack. A den site was created for them away from the main living space in March's Heart, in an area called March's Stand. The dense foliage will protect them from the elements and a few of the trees have robust enough root systems that digging out and maintain dens should be fairly easy. Making a cozy home is top priority for the ladies, all of whom are eager to be mothers. Samahl still isn't sure if he's willing to take that step, but his friends assure him that there's no pressure. He knows that isn't completely true, but he's glad that the girls have finally stopped nagging him about it.
