Mudflat was the runt of her litter, the first runt the Decker Duckers had ever had born into their pack. Her much larger brother, Suna, and her sister, Argentum, were both sent to join friend packs once they had been weaned as they had shown to be eager to leave and explore with new packs who may be willing to take them. While her siblings wanted to see new things and explore the world around them, Mudflat had only ever been interested in sticking to her little space and foraging around for whatever she could find. She spent her training time as a pup learning from the old herbalist and discovered her passion for the work.
As an adolescent she decided to fully appreciate the old herbalist as she heard that she was planning on leaving the pack to do further explorations. She figured she could fill the roll once her mentor had left.
