When I was a pup, no one in my family thought I would grow up to be a chaser. 'She sleeps too much' they would say, or 'she doesn't like hard work'. Ha! They were wrong on all counts. I sleep just the right amount, thank you very much. And I don't mind working hard, the my packmates just don't see me doing it because I'm smart. If I can cut off the prey early or teach a pup more efficiently, then I'll do that rather than spend ages of my time doing things the traditional way. And besides, I need to save all my energy for the chase, especially since I'm often the one picking up the slack from Cassie and Gygie. Sure I miss Nyx, but it's so much fun being the one the others look towards as we chase down our prey. And Blend thinks he's so special for being the only one who can sniff out the prey. Whatever. He's the one they should call lazy; all he does is hang back while the rest of us do the hard work. And he never takes me up on it when I challenge him to a race because he knows he'll lose. My twin has always been a sore loser.

All jokes aside, though, I do love Blend. We've always done everything together, from annoying our pup-sitters to feeding the Pack. I know how his mind works and we can communicate with just the smallest flick of an ear. The rest of our hunting party has no idea how much dirt we talk behind their backs! It was hard, when I was expecting pups, to have to watch him leave without me. At least Mel had to stay back, too. No glory for her while I was stuck in camp! Now, I get the best of both worlds: I get to care for my pups and run with my siblings. It's not secret to me that the rest of my family thought I would hate being a mom, but I've just gone and proved them wrong. Again! It's one of my favorite things to do. I've loved watching my pups grow up. Little Appie is taking after me and only doing the work she needs to. Labradorite hasn't told me what she'll be doing in the pack once she gets older, which is a little odd considering how strict he's been about that sort of thing. He also hasn't even let me name my other pup, despite her surviving through weaning. I don't know what he's planning for her, but he'll have me to go through if he tries anything, love of Cassie's life or not.

One Week Later

Okay, I'm with Jasper on this. Labradorite sucks. He SOLD my pup! In what world is that okay?! I'm sorry Cassie, but I'm going to get the rest of the Shadows on my side with this. Labradorite has to go. Before he does anything worse. Or maybe he already has. Maybe he really did kill Rust, despite what Rhyolite says. Maybe he even killed Nyx. If that turns out to be true, I might have to take over Mel's job as finisher on this hunt.
