Rían was found squinting and panting in an abandoned burrow near the campsite, and the reason why was made quickly clear when he came out. Rían is an albino wolf, and therefore is sensitive to sunlight and bright reflective surfaces, his eyes being the worst of it. Pothos had heard of albino wolves developing spots over their skin when spending too much time in the sun, and it eventually getting bad before they passed.

Pothos offered Rían a spot in the pack as an apprentice to their herbalist, and he agreed. He was able to spend most of his time in a cool, dark cave with glowing silkworms, a pool of water, and an opening letting only ambient lighting in. Alocasia needed frequent time outside to recharge, but Rían was able to work while she did so.

Rían was devastated when Alocasia passed from old age, seeing her much like a sister, and vowed to make her proud. He has worked tirelessly to pick up the torch in his jaws and carry on caring for the pack they both love so much.

A few months later, a young she-wolf named Siobhán came to the pack as another albino wolf- and quickly bonded to Rían over their shared mutation. The two became mates shortly after learning more about one another, and work alongside each other in the comfort of the shaded cave. She's the only one able to get Rían to open up entirely, and he'd have it no other way.
